Student Recruitment in the Middle East

This spring semester, Dr. Michael A. Brzezinski, Assistant Dean of International Programs and Director of International Students and Scholars, spent two weeks visiting the Middle East recruiting students for Purdue's undergraduate and graduate programs. University recruitment fairs were organized in Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates. High school visits were also made during the trip.

Dr. Brzezinski reports that interest in Purdue was very strong.  In fact, staff at the Choueifat School in Dubai joked that Purdue had become an extension of their campus because so many Choueifat students are choosing to study in West Lafayette.

Purdue has received a record number of international applications and anticipates that in the 2007-8 academic year, it will enroll the largest number of international freshmen in the history of the University.  Brzezinski remarks that "Part of the reason for this success is due to the living testimony of alumni who make Purdue proud.  We appreciate you!"

He adds that "We would love to have more Purdue alums visiting high schools on behalf of the University, and also helping us at recruitment fairs."  He suggests that anyone who is interested in more actively promoting their alma mater's recruitment efforts should contact him at mbrzezinski@purdue.edu.
