Asian Initiative

Created by the Office of the President in 2005, the Asian Initiative serves as a resource and link between Purdue University and its overseas partners.  Recognizing the rising economic, political and cultural significance of Asia’s two largest countries – China and India – as well as Purdue's longstanding ties to its Chinese and Indian students, faculty and friends, this initiative seeks to significantly broaden and deepen Purdue’s involvement in these parts of the world in the areas of:

•   Research Collaboration, including efforts at Discovery Park
•   International Undergraduate and Graduate Student Recruitment
•   Study Abroad Opportunities
•   Alumni Relations
•   Development

Chinese Students to Learn About American Culture During Exchange

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A group of students from four of China's top universities will spend July 13 to Aug. 2 at Purdue University to learn about American life and culture as part of an experimental summer program.

Twenty-six students are coming from four of Purdue's top Chinese partner institutions -- Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Ningbo University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Purdue Delegation to Pursue Research Partnerships in China

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A Purdue University delegation will travel to China this month to explore interdisciplinary research collaborations with the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Twelve faculty and staff members from Purdue's West Lafayette and Calumet campuses will meet with Chinese researchers and administrators to discuss joint research projects in energy, nanotechnology, food safety, urban issues and the environment.  More
